Rich Breen has been working at the highest levels of professional audio for 25 years. Awarded a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester, he studied music at the Eastman School of Music, and then became Technical Manager at Chicago’s famous Universal Recording Studio in 1981. In 1989 he launched out as a freelance engineer.
Among his professional accomplishments, dozens of Rich’s recordings have been nominated for or won Grammy Awards, and in 2001 he was personally honored with a Non-Classical Engineering Grammy nomination. Rich has worked all genres of music, but has immense experience and passion for acoustic jazz and large ensemble acoustic recording. His discography includes recordings with The Yellowjackets, Charlie Haden, Peter Erskine, Dianne Reeves, Herbie Hancock, Norah Jones, Lyle Mays, Ramsey Lewis, Sergio Mendes, The Sun Ra Arkestra, and many more. Rich has engineered numerous feature film scores, including several IMAX films, with large orchestras.
